At this point, there have been thousands of
proposed solutions for how to lose weight, ranging from diets which allow for
the consumption of grapes all the way to convoluted herbal recipes and
ridiculous exercising programs. The reason for there being so many of them
around is that there is no one answer to weight loss which will suit everyone;
we need all of those methods in order to cover what different people may find
success with. One of the more interesting proposed methods of losing weight
consists of using hypnosis for weight loss, and quite understandably, most
people are quite skeptical as to whether or not it actually works.
How Hypnosis Works
Before getting into how hypnosis can
actually help you lose weight, it is important to understand what being
hypnotized does to a human being. When under hypnosis, you enter a mental state
in which you are highly focused on what the hypnotist is telling you. In
addition, your mind becomes much more receptive to orders and suggestions,
regardless of what they may be; hence, why people can be made to look
completely ridiculous while hypnotized.
Using Hypnosis for Weight Loss
One of the most prevalent problems with
weight loss is the fact that you need to make some big changes to your
day-to-day routine. In general, these changes revolve around exercising more
often and eating foods you probably don’t want to, and it takes a certain
amount of dedication and perseverance to go through with them. When you are
hypnotized, as mentioned above, you become more responsive to suggestions, and
thus, it is possible to change one’s behavior in regards to weight loss. In
other words, you are going to have a much easier time coping with the changes
in your life, feeling more motivated to actually put them in place. Just like
with practically any sport, your success when it comes to weight loss is
determined by your mental state; if you have the motivation, physical obstacles
won’t mean anything to you.
What Kind of Results Can be Expected from
this Procedure?
So how much weight can you expect to lose
from weight loss hypnosis? Well, as of now this question is a bit hard to
answer as the amount of research which has been done on it is quite limited.
There were however a few studies conducted on its effectiveness, and it was
found that on average, using hypnosis for weight loss allowed patients to lose
six more pounds than those who didn’t go through with it. However, they were
not able to measure how the hypnotherapy impacted the test subject’s attitude
towards coping with a weight loss program.
Another important factor which all of those
studies have in common is that their conclusions state that using hypnosis for
weight loss on its own is not enough for it to have an effect. If you really
want to reap the benefits of this procedure then you will still need to go on
some kind of diet and exercise regularly… in other words, it’s an important
tool you can use to achieve your goal, but there is no way for you to rely on
it entirely.
